Prof. Dr. Antje Wild
Can you tell us something about your career so far?
After graduating from high school, I really wanted to live abroad for a longer period of time. That's why I studied International Management at ESB Reutlingen and spent two years in Boston.
I then completed my master's degree at LMU Munich. Afterwards, I did my doctorate there at the Institute for Market-Oriented Management on the topics of digitalization and big data. At the same time, I helped organize the start-up competition Generation-D.
Start-ups have inspired me from the very beginning with their creativity, speed of implementation and innovative power. That's why I was very keen to work in this field and, after completing my doctorate, I started at Bosch in the company's own incubator "grow". There, I helped build a start-up in the mobility sector.
I then moved to Bosch Rexroth, where I helped shape a start-up in the area of the factory of the future. I have now been at HNU since February 2022.
What are your teaching and research interests and what are you particularly interested in at the moment?
In the field of entrepreneurship, I am particularly excited about the topic of social entrepreneurship and the measurement of impact. How do we know that a project has really improved people's living conditions? Could there have been other ways to achieve the same result with less resources?
In the field of project management, I find it exciting to learn about new industries all the time and to experience the challenges that arise in projects in these areas. In game development, completely different difficulties arise than in the field of data science. It is particularly helpful here that many of our students already have professional experience and we can build on this in the lectures.

Why did you become a professor?
I really enjoy communicating things in a (hopefully) exciting way and passing on my enthusiasm to young people. That's why I already enjoyed working with students during my doctorate, as a practical supervisor at Bosch, and as a lecturer.
At the same time, I enjoy getting to know new people and topics. The profession of professor is the perfect combination of these aspects for me.
What can people learn in your lectures?
On the one hand, you can learn from me how to identify trends, develop new ideas from them and put them into practice as efficiently as possible. At the same time, we deal with the optimization and digitalization of processes and the management of projects.
How were your first months at HNU?
The colleagues welcomed me very warmly right from the start and supported me with all my questions. I already knew the collegial atmosphere from my time as a lecturer. This was a decisive factor for me to come to HNU.
I was very pleased that classroom lectures were possible again at the start of my lectures. This allowed us to implement many things that were not possible during the last two years, such as field trips and business games. At the same time, I was able to get to know the students much better than is possible via Zoom.
What brought you to Neu-Ulm and HNU in particular? What do you like about the region?
Although I'm actually a northerner, I really liked the region around Ulm/Neu-Ulm with its high quality of life right from the start.
What I particularly like about HNU is the innovative strength, the international orientation and the strong focus on entrepreneurship. With projects like InnoSüd and the Founders Space, we have really great opportunities to support university-owned start-ups. As a professor of entrepreneurship, I'm particularly excited about that.
What do you like to do most when you are not teaching and/or researching at HNU?
Travel and be active, whether in the water (diving), on the water (stand-up paddling), on an e-bike or hiking.
